Welcome to my homepage!

I am a Professor of Social Statistics & Demography at the Social Statistics Department, School of Social Sciences, University of Manchester. I am also a member of the Advisory Board of the Cathie Marsh Institute (CMI), Visiting Scholar at the Max Planck Institute for Demography Research, associate of the ESRC Research Centre for Population Change, University of Southampton, and Adjunct Associate Professor at Asian Demographic Research Institute, University of Shanghai. Since 2025, I serve as Associate Editor for Demographic Research journal. I am also a member of the Methodological Assurance Review Panel: Dynamic Population Model sub-group and Migration Statistics sub-group, as part of the UK Statistics Authority.

In my research I develop statistical methods for modelling and forecasting complex social processes, with a particular focus on migration and combining various sources of data. I also have a general interest in time series analysis and forecasting, hierarchical models, Bayesian computational methods, micro-econometrics, opinion polls and ageing. I have also been involved in research related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
